" After the first three Falcon 1 rocket launches failed (2006, 2008), SpaceX was on the brink of collapse capital nearly exhausted, employees demoralized, and NASA contracts beyond reach. "

Elon Musk doubled down. He insisted on in-house manufacturing, rapid iteration, and vertical integration to cut costs. Instead of outsourcing, SpaceX built nearly everything themselves. After each failure, he pushed teams to learn fast and build again. On the fourth launch in September 2008, the Falcon 1 succeeded. NASA awarded SpaceX its first mission contract the rest is history. SpaceX disrupted space launch, became the first private company to return humans from orbit, and continues scaling reusable rockets.
